About

O mangiar questa minestra o saltar questa fine is an Italian proverb which means, literally, either eat this soup or jump out of this window. In other words, “take it or leave it.” I’ve spent way too long hoping and wishing for things to change, but in the past few years I realized hey, things are pretty great. Take it or leave it, ’cause this is what you’ve got.

♥ Female. 28. Seattle, WA.
♥ Yes, it does rain that much. And yes, I hate the weather here.
♥ I’m a recruiter by day. I try not to write about my job itself, but keep an eye out for career/job-hunting advice posts every so often. Sometimes I just can’t help myself.
♥ I have the BRCA2 genetic mutation, giving me a risk of someday developing cancer that is, well, frighteningly high.
♥So I had a preventative mastectomy on November 7th, 2012 (yes, before Angelina).  That’s been an adventure.
♥ I’m quite small. As in, only 5’1.5″… yes, the half inch is important
♥ I never round up to 5’2″. I’d sooner round down to 5’1″. I like being short.
♥ I was born & raised in the Midwest – Ohio, to be exact. I moved to the West coast when I was twelve and I’d never go back permanently.
♥ My boyfriend and my best friend (since 1997!) are first cousins.
♥ I lived in Rome, Italy for a few months in college. Best thing I ever did, hands down.
♥ I was born on Memorial Day.
♥ I screamed nonstop for the first six or so months of life. Not much has changed!
♥ You can find me on Twitter and 20SB.
♥ I’ve been blogging in one way or another since 1998.
♥ I’m a member of Junior League & I also volunteer with a FORCE.

  1. Hi – I just came to your blog through Dee’s I’m a Mutant blog – and hey, I’m on your blogroll. I guess I shouldn’t tell you that I’ll be 40 in October, it’s kind of fun to be in a ’20 something bloggers’ list. 😉

I love the title of your blog, which is about to get added to my blogroll too! 🙂

  2. Hello-
I just read your story on yesandyes.org. It sounds like you’ve got a pretty positive outlook about everything and are making the most out of the situation. I wanted to get in touch with you and suggest that you read The China Study by T. Colin Campbell. This book is full of science but written in a way anyone can understand, and details the connection between nutrition and health. You have more control than you think over whether cancer actually develops in your body, and it’s as simple as what you choose to eat. Please consider checking out this book–it could change your life. I know you don’t know me, and there are all kinds of whack “health” books/theories out there, and it’s hard to know what/who to trust, but give it a read, and then you can draw your own conclusions. Best wishes to you!

  3. Hey-I was checking my blog traffic and saw your blog as a traffic source! Thanks so much! I don’t publicize my blog much so I’m always interested to see people who found me;)
